Attractions

Southeast Oklahoma is full of attractions for tourist visiting the area. The most prominent attraction of the area is Broken Bow Lake. Broken Bow Lake is located just east of US Highway 259 and is a favorite with many because of its cleanliness, beauty, fish, and water sports opportunities. Also located in the area is Beavers Bend State Park. Beavers Bend offers abundant trails and wildlife, as well as, riverside cliffs, mountains, fishing opportunities, entertainment during special festivals and a peaceful outdoor setting.

Beavers Bend is separated from Broken Bow Lake by the Broken Bow Dam. This dam allows the regulated flow of the Mountain Fork River, which runs through Beaver's Bend. Although Beavers Bend provides canoe rental, a swimming area, paddle boats and other attractions on the Mt. Fork River, the majority of the river traffic and canoe rental occurs between Beavers Bend and Highway 70. Downstream, there is more white water and trophy rainbow and brown trout fishing

opportunities.Farther north, the majestic Ouachita Mountains provide for horseback riding, backpacking and day hiking, photography, hunting and the Scenic Talimena Drive which is a favorite during the fall foliage season. Seen Above, the Talimena Drive provides breathtaking views and is a window to southeast Oklahoma.
